British Smith & Nephew buys Russian medical company "DEOST"
British vendor of medical equipment Smith & Nephew announces the purchase of the traumatology and orthopedic businesses of Russian company "DEOST." They also buy manufacturing company "DISI", that is the member of the Group. The transaction amount is not announced. "DEOST" has been the official distributor of Smith & Nephew products in Russia since 2009.
The simultaneous purchase of the manufacturing company "DISI", located in the suburban Puschino, will allow Smith & Nephew to establish local production and selling of traumatology products in the average price segment and expand its portfolio of products represented in Russia.
As a result of this transaction Smith & Nephew will join 350 employees "DEOST" and "DiSi." In total, Smith & Nephew has about 14 thousands people, and the company is included in the index FTSE100. «Smith & Nephew has been developing its business in Russia since 2005. This transaction allows us to take another step towards the implementation of the strategy to create our own platform in emergent markets, as well as significantly strengthen our presence in Russia. In addition, we will be able to take advantage of the market dynamics and provide better service for our customers ", - quotes the British CEO of the company Olivier Bouona in a press release.
