As stated by the CEO of "Heart Clinic" Anna Makovsky, a future hospital has ambitious plans, including heart transplantation in the long view.
Gennady Kotelnikov, Rector of Samara State Medical University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medicine, Professor during the meeting said: "I have a very positive attitude towards this project. Firstly, there are a lot of patients, and our Regional Heart Center, not that cannot cope, - but the equipment installed there, is out of date, and the building was constructed almost 4 decades ago. Science, technology has gone forward. The space and equipment in the Regional Heart Center is now simply not enough. There are large waiting lists, many patients are waiting for their time to be operated. Therefore, construction of a new cardiac surgery center on the principles of public-private partnership will give the region the quality and quantity of operations. The patient arrives - and immediately goes to the operating room. This is a pioneer approach to health care organization. Gennady Kotelnikov stressed that the construction and purchase of equipment are private investments, and this fact is necessary to be understood by everybody. He also noted that the project is controlled personally by the Samara region governor Nikolai Merkushkin.
The director of "Sovremennye medicinskie technologii” Sergey Shatilo spoke about the plans of cooperation: "We have an agreement with the medical university, we open training classes, so undergraduates who will be preparing for the profession will have an opportunity to earn in the clinic, participate in operations to monitor operations and raise their level. We are building a cardiac surgery center. In the first place, there will be organized the work with the university to obtain new techniques, so we plan to prepare good specialists together. It is important for us, and also it is important for the development of public health, not only in Samara, but also in Russia".
Gennady Kotrelnikov also noted that the first important step in joint actions has become the appointment of Alexei Vachev as medical director of "Heart Clinic." As the rector of the Samara State Medical University says, Mr. Vachev happy to take up the matter. Paul Sergent, in turn, noted that the idea of cooperation "Heart Clinic" with the Medical University is remarkable, especially in view of the fact that the development of an innovative approach to patient care has become an important trend in the world medicine.
